Music, creativity and connection.

Meet Arlon Bennett 🎶

When Arlon joined our journey, he brought his music with him—and even sang for us live. It was one of those moments when everyone stops for a while and simply listens.

Arlon has lived with a Parkinson’s diagnosis for 16 years. In our interview, he talks about growing up, finding his way to music and what it means to share a song with other people. I loved getting to know the person behind the performance: someone who enjoys ideas that touch the soul or bring a smile, and wants to pass that feeling on.

His story reminds me why music belongs in this magazine. A song can give us words when we struggle to find our own. It can make us feel understood, or bring us together for a few precious minutes.

I’m so happy Arlon stepped aboard magazine 18. I hope you enjoy meeting him as much as I did. 💜

Meet Hélène Nicora 💜

At the next stop of our journey, Hélène Nicora stepped aboard. As Director General of Parkinson’s Europe, she has an important role—but what stayed with me most was her warmth and her genuine interest in people.

In our interview for magazine 18, I wanted you to meet Hélène as a person. We talked about the experiences that shaped her, the values she carries with her and what she hopes to achieve for the Parkinson’s community across Europe.

I picture her walking through the train, taking time to listen to fellow travellers and hear their stories. Because every conversation matters. The people living with Parkinson’s, and those who love and support them, deserve to be heard.

I’m delighted Hélène joined us. Come and get to know her in magazine 18! 🚂

Sharon’s story, carried forward with love 💜

Some stories stay with you because of the love behind them. This documentary tells the story of Sharon, who lived with Parkinson’s, and of the family who stood beside her. It also follows her son George, who turned his experience as a caregiver into a lasting commitment to raising awareness and supporting others.

I have known George through the Parkinson’s community for some time, and I admire how he keeps his mother’s memory alive through TogetherForSharon. When he talks about Sharon, you feel that she is so much more than the illness she lived with. She is a mother, a grandmother and someone whose life continues to touch people she never met.

The film makes room for the difficult parts of Parkinson’s and for the love that carries a family through them. I’m glad to share Sharon and George’s story with you in magazine 18. I hope you’ll take a moment to discover the people at its heart. 🚂
